we were asked to do a few questions on finding figures this was my findings.
Q1.find out bbc3’s top five most viewed programmes this week?
A1. 5.edinburgh commedy fest 4.eastenders (thur) 3.Eastebders(fri) 2.dont tell the bride 1. Eastenders (tues)
A2. 526,216
Q3. On the RAJAR site in the listening figures menu find out what percentage of the population listened to radio 1 last month
A3. 51,618,000
Q4. Search a ‘search term’ trend for a celebrity on google identify a peak and connect to an actual event
we then thought about why ratings/audience figures are so important.
the reasons i believe its so important is. firstly, producers would want to know how well there audience is recieving there product and so check the amount of people are watching they may also do this in order to compare themselves to other similar programms. secondly, it can show you when the peak times are on certain channels when audiences tune in the most. finally if you get very high ratings it makes advertisers pay more for 30 second slots a good example of a programm that does that is X Factor.
focus groups.
i think focus groups fundimentally is a good thing gathering people around to discuss there views on a product or an idea is a very helpful research tool especially if the people you asking the questions to are the targets of your product/idea. being in a group made me think about some of my own points because after discussing the point i found some of there points was more valid than mine. i think the only thing about that isn't positive is because the size is not very big there opinions may not represent
